Famous Hotel Sauna and Changing Room for Women in Gyeongju Exposed to Outside… “Even the Scene of Changing and Going Down the Stairs”

A shirtless person caught my attention, and it turned out to be a women's sauna.

An absurd incident occurred at a famous hotel in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where the women's sauna and changing room were fully exposed to the outside. The hotel management immediately suspended the sauna's operations and replaced the deteriorated glass film, but the anger of the victims has not subsided easily.

On the 8th, one of the victims, Mr. A, shared his experience on an online community. He began, "During a three-night stay with my family at the hotel, on the last evening, I went for a walk with my wife and two kids."

While walking through the lawn square, he noticed a shirtless person about three floors up. At first, he thought it was a men's sauna, but recalling the layout, he realized it was the women's sauna. Mr. A explained, "The person's back was completely visible, and if my wife were there, it would have been even more visible."

Mr. A expressed, "The outline was so clear that I could distinguish what kind of clothes the person was wearing beyond just the shadow," adding, "My wife was so shocked that she couldn't sleep properly."

After complaining to the hotel, the couple conducted an experiment, with the staff’s cooperation, to confirm if it was indeed visible from the outside. The result revealed that not only the women's sauna but also the changing room was clearly visible from outside.

Mr. A said, "You could see everything down to the point where they were undressing and coming down the stairs into the sauna."

Hotel management: "The film has deteriorated due to high temperatures and unusual weather."

After checking out, the couple received an apology from another manager but continued to demand a resolution. Mr. A stated, "I requested the suspension of sauna operations and replacement of the film, as well as an official apology on the hotel’s website to customers who were exposed during that time."

The hotel placed a notice in front of the sauna entry that said, "Due to the glass film deteriorating rapidly from heat and abnormal weather, we will conduct emergency replacement work because there are concerns about outside exposure during nighttime."

However, Mr. A was frustrated that this notice was only posted in front of the sauna and that there was no mention of an apology for the victims.

Mr. A said, "I spoke with the head of the hotel, but the response I received was to 'calm down,'" emphasizing, "We are not seeking compensation; we just want recognition and an apology for all the female sauna users who were exposed."

He concluded, "I hope that those who used the sauna at that time will understand the situation."
