Foreign Worker Death Incident at Plastic Factory in Hwaseong City

An unfortunate industrial accident occurred at a plastic manufacturing plant located in Hwaseong City, Gyeonggi Province, where a foreign worker of Nepalese nationality became trapped in machinery. This incident has again raised concerns about the state of safety management in industrial sites.

According to the Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station, at around 7:20 PM the previous day, a 30-year-old Nepalese man, referred to as A, was involved in an accident where his right arm became caught in a roller used in the compression process at the plastic manufacturing facility in Jeongnam-myeon, Hwaseong City.

As a result of the accident, A sustained severe injuries to his arm and torso and was urgently transported to the hospital but ultimately lost his life.

Status of the accident and ongoing police investigation

At the time of the accident, it is believed that A was working alongside two co-workers to remove foreign substances from a roller used for compressing plastic raw materials. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether A and his colleagues were working while the machinery was in operation or if the roller, which was supposed to be stationary, suddenly started and led to the accident.

The Hwaseong Dongtan Police are currently collecting witness statements and conducting an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the accident.

The police have stated that if any violations of safety regulations are discovered during the investigation, they plan to charge factory officials with relevant offenses.

This incident serves as a reminder of safety issues concerning foreign workers and the importance of workplace safety management in industrial settings. It particularly highlights how crucial safety training and management are in manufacturing environments that handle dangerous machinery.
