Lawyer Who Met Yoon Directly: “The 1.8-Pyeong Solitary Cell Used by Death Row Inmates… If Jeon Han-gil Has the Ability, He Could Control the Public”

Yoon Seok-youl's prison environment, "Confined in a death row cell… Political retaliation"

Attorney Shin Pyung has raised strong criticism regarding the controversy surrounding former President Yoon Seok-youl's prison environment.

Attorney Shin, known to be a supporter of former President Yoon, claimed that the current government is treating him as a death row inmate and that this is a clear act of political retaliation.

Attorney Shin appeared on YTN Radio's "Shin Yul's News Face-off" on the night of the 1st, where he detailed the prison environment of former President Yoon. He described, "The solitary confinement room provided to former President Yoon at the Seoul Detention Center is only 1.8 pyeong (approximately 6 square meters), barely enough to lie down in, a living hell," emphasizing that such treatment is blatant political retaliation.

Clear political retaliation

Attorney Shin pointed out the discriminatory treatment by comparing it to the imprisonment cases of past presidents and former Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook.

He criticized, "When former presidents and even Prime Minister Han Myeong-sook were incarcerated, the shared cells were renovated to create spacious environments, and necessary furnishings were provided to accommodate their living conditions. But suddenly, everything was cut off for former President Yoon."

Attorney Shin stated, "No matter how flawed a former president may be, if the public knows he was crammed into a cell once used by death row inmates, they would think it's excessive."

He continued, "This is why I am appealing to the U.S., U.K., and France about human rights oppression," and emphasized, "Intervention by other countries or international organizations regarding this is absolutely not an inappropriate interference in internal affairs."

Yoon Again Movement and Jeon Han-gil's Political Influence

Attorney Shin also made notable remarks about Jeon Han-gil, a former Korean history lecturer.

He introduced Jeon as "a person who emerged like a comet during the impeachment opposition and led public opinion," pointing out that many politicians underestimate him.

Attorney Shin highly praised Jeon Han-gil's character and potential, describing him as "pure-hearted and someone who has gone through many adversities."

Furthermore, he stated, "Those who have gone through hardships possess amazing abilities such as quick-wittedness and restraint, showcasing tremendous potential," and predicted, "Considering Jeon Han-gil's strength and potential, he will likely hold substantial internal control within the People Power Party."

When asked about the possibility of a split within the People Power Party, Attorney Shin said, "Whether a political party gains power depends on whether they have a candidate for the next presidential election."

He also predicted, "In that sense, if a faction opposing Han-gil exits, it will ultimately end up like the Bareunmirae Party in the past, just a disorganized group."
