A man who threw a bagel claiming it was hard… A cafe manager’s lament about feeling humiliated by ‘power harassment’

**Customer Throws 'Bagel' at Cafe Owner's Face**

An incident occurred where a middle-aged man who visited a cafe threw a bagel at the cafe owner's face, complaining that the bagel was 'hard.'

On the 29th, KBS reported the story of a cafe owner in his 50s, identified as A, who claims he was subjected to 'abuse' by a middle-aged man at a cafe in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.

According to the report, on the 26th, A welcomed two middle-aged men as customers who ordered two drinks in the cafe.

The issue arose when one of the customers, while drinking, requested an additional 'bagel.' According to A, after the order was placed, he prepared the bagel according to the recipe and served it to them.

While eating the bagel, the man suddenly stood up and threw a half of the bagel at A, saying, "Why does it taste like this? It's hard."

A, taken aback by the customer's sudden action, responded calmly, saying, "It can be a bit hard," but the man's anger did not subside.

A shared, "Since we are a franchise, the products come as finished goods from the head office, and I explained that I baked and served it according to the recipe. I've been in business for four years with no issues, but the customer got angry and said, 'Then you shouldn't sell it.'"

Afterward, the problematic customer threw the remaining piece of bagel at A and hurled the plate containing the bagel onto the counter.

A expressed, "Fortunately, I wasn't directly hit, but at 50 years old, I felt a surge of humiliation and shame."

He continued, "It's unacceptable for a customer to shout for no understandable reason and to use informal and disrespectful language from beginning to end. I hope they develop a sense of mature civic responsibility."

Meanwhile, throwing food at someone's face can clearly be considered 'assault.' According to Article 260 of the Criminal Act, a person who commits assault may face up to two years in prison or a fine of up to five million won.

In the case of habitual offenders, the penalties can be increased by 1.5 times the standard sentence.
