A customer threw a 'bagel' at the face of a cafe owner
An incident occurred where a middle-aged man, who visited a cafe, threw a bagel at the face of the cafe's owner, claiming the bagel was "hard."
On the 29th, KBS reported the story of Ms. A, a cafe owner in her 50s, who claimed she was subjected to what is referred to as "power harassment" by a middle-aged man who visited her cafe in Seogwipo, Jeju Island.
According to the report, Ms. A welcomed two middle-aged male guests who ordered two drinks at the cafe on the 26th.
The issue arose when one of the guests, while drinking his beverage, ordered an additional 'bagel.' Ms. A stated that after receiving the order, she prepared the bagel according to the recipe and served it to them.

As the man was eating the bagel, he suddenly stood up and threw half of the bagel at Ms. A, complaining, "Why does it taste like this? It's hard."
Startled by the customer's unexpected behavior, Ms. A calmly responded, "It can be a bit hard normally," but the man's anger did not subside.
Ms. A expressed, "Since we receive fully prepared products from the franchise headquarters and have baked it according to the recipe, I explained that there have been no issues in the four years of operating, but the customer replied, 'Then you shouldn't sell it,'" expressing her frustration.
Following that, the problematic customer threw the remaining half of the bagel at Ms. A and also hurled the plate containing the bagel onto the counter.

Ms. A lamented, "Fortunately, I didn't get hit directly, but at my mid-fifties, I was overwhelmed by feelings of humiliation and shame."
She continued, "It's unacceptable for customers to yell and behave rudely from start to finish for reasons that are hard to justify. I hope for a more mature civic consciousness."
Meanwhile, throwing food at a person's face can be clearly regarded as 'assault.' According to Article 260 of the Criminal Code, anyone who assaults another person may face imprisonment of up to two years or a fine of up to 5 million won, along with other penalties.
In the case of habitual offenders, the prescribed punishment may be increased by 1.5 times.
