Actor Lee Je-hoon has supported independent films through donations.
Indie Space announced on the 17th, "Lee Je-hoon has supported independent films by sponsoring the 'Sharing Seat' initiative. A plaque with 'Actor Lee Je-hoon' has been engraved on 16 seats in the Indie Space screening hall."
Indie Space is the nation's first private theater dedicated to independent films, opened in 2007. It showcases a variety of independent films through premieres, special screenings, and festivals.
The 'Sharing Seat sponsorship involves engraving the sponsor's name on the seats of Indie Space screening rooms for donations above 2 million KRW. It has been continued with interest from audiences, directors, actors, and various film organizations.
Lee Je-hoon has a long-standing relationship with independent films. He garnered attention in the film industry with his role in "Bleak Night" (2011, directed by Yoon Sung-hyun). In the same year, he was also appointed as Indie Space's first honorary ambassador.
At that time, he remarked, "Through 'Bleak Night,' I realized the importance of being able to present films to many audiences," and "I'm delighted that Indie Space has re-opened through the support of the private sector."
Lee Je-hoon also launched a YouTube channel called 'Je-hoon Cinema' to introduce independent films and theaters. In the recent 6th episode, Indie Space was featured, and he visited the theater in person.
He also conducted an interview with Director Won Seung-hwan. Lee commented, "Thanks to Indie Space, which has been upheld by philosophy and conviction, current independent films can shine."
Indie Space is planning a special screening of Lee Je-hoon's short films in celebration of his 'Sharing Seat' sponsorship. It aims to screen his early short films next month.
This special screening will provide a meaningful time for various audiences, including those who have seen these films before and new viewers meeting actor Lee Je-hoon's past works in theaters.
