National Heat Wave Alert: Feels Like Temperature Exceeds 37 Degrees
Amid the nationwide heat wave alert, the maximum daily feels-like temperature has surpassed 37 degrees, intensifying the scorching heat.
According to data released by the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 26th, as of 1 PM, the maximum daily feels-like temperature across the country ranged from 31 to 37 degrees.
Looking at the feels-like temperatures by region, Paju's Tanhyeon and Yeongju's Ganam recorded the highest figures at 37.3 degrees each.

Following closely are Yangyang and Yeongdeok at 36 degrees, Andong at 35.9 degrees, Seoul at 35.2 degrees, Daejeon at 35 degrees, Gwangju at 34.9 degrees, Gangneung at 34.6 degrees, High Mountain (Jeju) at 34.5 degrees, Daegu at 33.6 degrees, Busan at 33.4 degrees, and Incheon at 33 degrees, indicating that the entire country is suffering from the sweltering heat.
The Korea Meteorological Administration urged, "As the maximum feels-like temperature in most areas of the country will rise around 35 degrees, please pay special attention to health management." It is particularly important to manage the health of the elderly and outdoor workers who are vulnerable to heat.
Heat Wave Advisory in Most Areas of the Country
As of 4:30 AM on the 26th, a heat wave advisory has been issued for most regions of the country.
Heat wave alerts have been issued for Gyeonggi, most of Gangwon, Chungnam, Chungbuk, Jeonnam (excluding Geomundo and Chodo), Jeonbuk, most of Gyeongbuk (excluding Yeongdeok and Ulchin plain), most of Gyeongnam, western Jeju, Seoul, Incheon (excluding Ongjin-gun), Daejeon, Gwangju, Daegu, central Busan, western Ulsan, and Sejong.

Moreover, a heat wave advisory is currently in effect for the five islands in the West Sea, some regions of Gangwon, Geomundo and Chodo in Jeonnam, Yeongdeok and Ulchin plain in Gyeongbuk, some areas in Gyeongnam, most of Jeju, Ongjin in Incheon, eastern and western Busan, eastern Ulsan, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, a heat wave alert is issued when the maximum feels-like temperature exceeds 35 degrees for more than two days, while a heat wave advisory is triggered when the maximum feels-like temperature stays above 33 degrees for more than two days.
Sunday, the 26th, is also expected to have similar temperatures to today. The morning lows are forecasted to be between 22 to 28 degrees, with daytime highs between 32 to 37 degrees, indicating that the scorching heat will persist throughout the weekend.
