Incheon Yeongjongdo Swimming Accident, High School Student Dies

A high school student lost his life in a tragic swimming accident that occurred at Eulwangri Beach in Yeongjongdo, Incheon.

According to the Incheon Fire Department's announcement on the 26th, a report was received by 119 at approximately 2:46 PM on the 25th, stating that an 18-year-old high school student, referred to as A, had fallen into the water while diving near the Eulwangri Ferry Terminal in Jung-gu, Eulwang-dong.

Immediately after the accident, the Incheon Fire Department and the Coast Guard launched a rescue operation, but after about four hours of underwater search, A was found already deceased.

Initial investigations by the Coast Guard and fire authorities suggest that A had been enjoying swimming at the beach with two classmates when the accident occurred.

Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to clarify the precise circumstances of the accident.
