Tragic story of a parent in their 40s who died while trying to rescue their children at Sehwa Port, Jeju

A tragic accident occurred near Sehwa Port in Gujwa-eup, Jeju City, where a parent in their 40s lost their life while trying to rescue their children who had fallen into the sea.

According to the Jeju Maritime Police and the Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters, a report was received at 2:37 PM on the 26th, stating that "my husband fell into the water," from the area near the breakwater at Sehwa Port.

At that time, individual A was collecting seaweed with their three children near the breakwater.

The children were unaware of the rapidly rising water and found themselves in a dangerous situation, isolated in the sea.

Witnessing this, individual A jumped into the water without a moment's hesitation to rescue their children; however, tragically, they were swept away by the strong waves.

Without a moment's hesitation, they jumped into the sea to rescue their children.

They were rescued about five minutes after the accident…

Individual A was rescued with the help of a nearby citizen who was surfing, but they were already in cardiac arrest.

Rescue authorities immediately performed CPR and quickly transported individual A to a hospital in Jeju City using a medical helicopter, but ultimately, they lost their precious life.

Meanwhile, on the same day, another drowning incident occurred near Kwakji Beach in Jeju.

A male tourist in his 30s, individual B, went missing and was found after 1 hour and 20 minutes, but unfortunately, he too lost his life.
