Kim Hye-kyung Visits Gyeyangsan Traditional Market for Communication with Citizens

On July 25, 2025, in the afternoon, Kim Hye-kyung, spouse of President Lee Jae-myung, visited the Gyeyangsan Traditional Market in Incheon, Gyeyang District, to engage in communication with citizens.

She received a warm welcome from citizens at the market and initiated the conversation by asking, “Have you received your consumption coupons?”

Citizens responded to her question, saying, “I had samgyetang,” and “I did a lot of shopping,” sharing their consumption activities using the recovery consumption coupons.

This visit by Kim Hye-kyung appears to be part of efforts to directly verify the effects of the government's consumption coupon policy and to listen to the voices of the citizens.

As she toured the market, Kim also engaged in conversations with shop owners.

While purchasing a bag of popcorn, she asked the shop owner, “Are many people using the consumption coupons these days?” and showed interest in their sales situation. The shop owner replied, “It’s great. Thank you,” showing a positive response.

Kim expressed her relief, saying, “I’m so glad,” but added, “It still needs to get better,” revealing her commitment to economic recovery.

Shopping Considerations Based on President Lee Jae-myung's Preferences

Kim Hye-kyung’s market visit continued.

At a fruit shop, she noted, “The fruit that the president likes the most in summer is peaches,” as she examined the peaches.

When the vendor asked, “Do you like soft ones or hard ones?” Kim replied, “I like soft ones,” placing the ‘Mulbok’ peaches preferred by President Lee Jae-myung into her shopping basket that she had prepared in advance.

Kim also visited a favorite side dish shop that she often went to with President Lee Jae-myung.

The owner of the side dish shop conveyed the positive response from citizens about the consumption coupons, saying, “Elderly people really love them. They come out with cards and boast, ‘I came to use the subsidy.’”

To this, Kim replied, “I will work harder to make it even better,” bowing slightly in gratitude.

Kim Hye-kyung purchased a variety of foods including lettuce, kale, cherry tomatoes, pumpkin leaves, dried squid, 200g of beef, bean cakes, fried chicken, and bread.

She also visited a donut shop, which seemed to reflect the preferences of President Lee Jae-myung, who has been known to enjoy glutinous rice donuts.

On the 6th of last month, Kim also visited a traditional market and purchased twisted doughnuts and glutinous rice donuts using Onnuri gift certificates.

This visit to the traditional market by Kim Hye-kyung was a meaningful step to promote the revitalization of traditional markets closely connected to the livelihoods of ordinary citizens and to directly verify the effects of the government’s consumption coupon policy.
