Hollywood actress Shannen Doherty has passed away at the age of 53.
Leslie Sloane, Doherty's publicist, released an official statement on the 14th (KST), saying, "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Shannen Doherty."
Doherty's team stated, "She fought cancer for years but ultimately succumbed to it. We ask for privacy for her family to grieve peacefully."
Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015. She was declared cancer-free in 2017, but it recurred in 2019, with cancer cells spreading to her brain, necessitating surgery.
Despite her illness, she continued her acting career, appearing in shows such as 'Dying to Belong' and 'List of a Lifetime.'
She also hosted a podcast. Since last year, Doherty shared her cancer battle experiences on Spotify's 'Let's Be Clear.'
Meanwhile, Shannen Doherty was a youth icon of the 1990s, gaining worldwide popularity for her role as Brenda on the American TV show 'Beverly Hills, 90210.'
