Actresses Son Ye-jin and Jo Yu-ri will join forces in their upcoming project.
On the 21st, Netflix announced the casting lineup for its new original series 'Variety' (written and directed by Kim Yong-hoon). Son Ye-jin and Jo Yu-ri have confirmed their appearances.
'Variety' is a thriller genre series based on the K-pop entertainment industry. It depicts the desires of a company representative who plans a popular idol group and an obsessive fan.
Son Ye-jin will play the role of Seo-eun, the representative of the entertainment company. She is a character who has nurtured the top idol group with her exceptional planning skills and is someone who risks everything for contract renewals.
Expectations rise for her acting transformation. She has shown completely different sides in each of her works. Through 'Variety,' she will portray extreme emotions in unexpected situations.
Jo Yu-ri will portray the character Seung-hee, an obsessive fan who will go to any lengths to meet the idol member. Seung-hee exhibits an obsession driven by twisted love and hatred.
She has made a name for herself through seasons 2 and 3 of 'Squid Game.' She drew attention from global viewers while playing the role of Jun-hee, who participated in the game while pregnant.
An insider stated, "In addition to Son Ye-jin and Jo Yu-ri, many veteran and rookie actors have been cast. Please look forward to the diverse acting ensemble."
Meanwhile, 'Variety' is the new work by Kim Yong-hoon, the director of 'Mask Girl.' The release date is yet to be announced.
