A 50-Year-Old’s Final Outcome after Failing to Attend a Drunk Driving Trial and Driving Without a License

A 50-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Imprisonment for Driving Without a License During Drunk Driving Trial

A man in his 50s, who was already facing trial for drunk driving, has been sentenced to imprisonment for driving without a license.

According to the legal community on the 20th, Judge Jo Gook-in of the 5th Criminal Division of the Ulsan District Court sentenced Mr. A to 2 months in prison for violating the Road Traffic Act, among other charges.

Mr. A was caught by authorities last September while driving approximately 2 kilometers without a driver's license on a road in Ulsan.

Notably, Mr. A was already undergoing a trial for a drunk driving incident but failed to appear in court without a valid reason, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant.

Violation of the Road Traffic Act and Court Absence

Under these circumstances, Mr. A was caught driving without a license and faced additional penalties.

He had already been sentenced to 1 year and 4 months in prison for the drunk driving incident.

The court explained the reasoning for its judgment, stating, "Despite having been punished multiple times for similar offenses, Mr. A committed another crime, which weighs heavily on his culpability. In this situation, a severe punishment is inevitable."
