The Shocking Crime Method of a 'Habitual Thief' Hiding in a Mart
An unusual theft incident that occurred at a mart in Daejeon was revealed through the official YouTube channel of the National Police Agency.
On the 17th, a video titled "Someone Lives in the Mart! Who is the Chilling Criminal…??" was uploaded to the YouTube channel 'Korean National Police Agency.'

According to the video, around 11 PM on May 17th, the lights at a mart in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, were turned off, indicating that business had ended.
As the lights went out, CCTV captured a woman sneakily entering the mart. After exiting through a staff-only door, she was seen lingering outside while smoking a cigarette.
She then re-entered the mart and wandered around the darkened interior, freely taking various items such as cigarettes, chocolate bars, and batteries.
However, all of these actions were being recorded on CCTV, and the woman was reported quickly by a citizen who witnessed her wandering inside the mart, prompting a police response.

Swift Response from Police Arriving in 3 Minutes
Upon seeing the patrol car’s lights arriving in front of the mart just 3 minutes later, the woman attempted to flee, but it was already too late.
The police systematically divided their roles, blocking all entrances to the mart and beginning an internal search.
With the help of security personnel who responded to the scene, they were able to quickly secure the CCTV footage capturing the crime scene. After a thorough search, the police successfully found and arrested the woman hiding in the mart’s staircase.

More shocking facts were revealed during the investigation after her arrest. This woman did not simply enter the mart by chance that day.
She had been habitually committing theft by sleeping on the staircase during business hours and stealing items after closing time when all the staff had left.
The police have arrested the woman on theft charges and are currently investigating her case.
Netizens who watched the video expressed their reactions, saying things like, "Great job, police," "It's impressive that they arrived in just 3 minutes," and "The mart owner must be really angry."
This incident serves as a reminder of how crucial constant CCTV monitoring, active citizen reporting, and swift police response are.
