“My Daughter is Crying to Go to an Idol Concert… I’m Going Crazy Because of the Expensive ‘Scalper’ Tickets”

"Concert tickets for idols are priced as you call… What do I do when my daughter is crying and throwing a fit?"

The ticket sales for the Boynextdoor concert 'BOYNEXTDOOR TOUR 'KNOCK ON Vol.1' FINAL,' which opened early booking for membership (fan club) holders, were truly a 'ticketing' frenzy.

On the 18th, as soon as early booking began, all three sessions of seats, including those with restricted views, were sold out. This proves Boynextdoor's strong ticket power, but there are some people who cannot fully rejoice.

These are the fans who failed to secure tickets and are now trying to find them on resale platforms. The original price of concert tickets has increased, and scalpers are running rampant, acquiring tickets for resale at exorbitant prices.

On the 17th, a woman posted in a thread, "My 9th-grade daughter is unable to get tickets for the Boynextdoor concert and hasn't eaten, crying and throwing a fit every day. The price of the tickets is priced as you call."

The concert organizers previously announced in their 'Booking Guide' that "to prevent illegal ticket transactions and transfers, personal identification checks will be conducted at the venue," and that "after completing the identification check, attendees must receive and wear an entry bracelet to be allowed entrance."

They threatened to introduce face verification through 'Face Pass' and a ticket inspection system called 'IN-PASS,' but some scalpers are selling tickets at inflated prices with conditions like 'help with Face Pass,' 'on-site assistance,' and 'bracelet transfer.'

Currently, there are 453 tickets listed on the ticket transfer platform 'Ticketbay.' The official ticket prices range from 154,000 KRW to 198,000 KRW, but on Ticketbay, they are being offered from a minimum of 300,000 KRW to a maximum of 3,500,000 KRW depending on the seat location.

Zero transactions below the original price… Rampant 'scalping transactions.'

The platform has a filtering feature that allows tickets being sold below face value to be displayed, but when this feature was activated, not a single ticket appeared.

Ticket scalping is also taking place on social media platforms. One scalper posted on X (formerly Twitter) emphasizing a ‘cool deal’ by suggesting a trade price almost three times the original ticket price.

Some scalpers have even mixed in Chinese and English to entice foreign fans in their resale postings.

Moreover, most scalpers are observed not to specify prices and instead encourage potential buyers to contact them first, prompting those interested to suggest amounts.

The issue is that through these transactions, scams are also occurring, and the sellers aren’t actively cracking down on scalpers but rather placing all the responsibility on the buyers.

The event organizers warned through their 'Booking Advisory' that "purchasing tickets through personal direct transactions or illegal site booking services may result in legal penalties, and any damages or responsibility that arise will be solely on the purchasing parties."

In the meantime, Boynextdoor's Seoul performance will also be live-streamed through the global fan platform Weverse. To view it, a live access pass must be purchased within Weverse.
