Heavy Rain Accident in Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do: 4 Residents Trapped During Drainage Work

Two residents who were trapped under debris caused by heavy rain while working on drainage maintenance have been safely rescued.

On the morning of the 17th, around 7:55 AM, two residents were rescued by a rescue team after being buried under debris that overflowed due to heavy rain while they were engaged in drainage maintenance work in Jeongan-myeon, Gongju, Chungcheongnam-do.

At the site, excavation work to remove debris was being carried out at the drainage in front of the village hall. It was determined that the sudden heavy rain caused debris from upstream to collapse onto the residents who were working.

As a result of the incident, one resident sustained serious injuries, while two others were confirmed to have sustained minor injuries. The injured individuals were immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
