Actors Moon Ga-young and Choi Hyun-wook will bring to life a 'power reversal' romantic comedy.
On the 12th, tvN announced the confirmed casting for the new drama 'The Dark Lord' (written by Kim Soo-yeon, directed by Lee Soo-hyun). Along with the announcement of the 2025 programming schedule, the characters of Moon Ga-young and Choi Hyun-wook were revealed.
'The Dark Lord' is based on the Naver webtoon of the same name (author Hyejin Yang). It tells the story of a fateful reunion as employer and employee between two characters who met as adversaries in an online game 16 years ago.
Moon Ga-young will play Baek Soo-jung, the head of the planning team at Yongseong Department Store. With sheer determination, she rises to her position in the top department store in the industry. Known for her confrontational style, she’s a boss slayer who prefers fighting over enduring.
Even Baek Soo-jung has a dark past she wishes to erase. As someone who used to focus solely on performance metrics, she desperately wants to forget her unfortunate online gaming past with 'The Dark Lord.' She reunites with Ban Ju-yeon as her workplace superior.
Choi Hyun-wook will portray Ban Ju-yeon, the head of the strategic planning division at Yongseong Department Store. He is destined to live as the sole heir to a perfectionist chaebol group and secretly harbors the persona of 'The Dark Lord' from his middle school days.
They will showcase a tense love-hate chemistry. Ban Ju-yeon encounters his first love and worst matchup 'Strawberry,' whom he was rejected by in an online game, as his workplace subordinate Baek Soo-jung.
An insider revealed, "Moon Ga-young is set to transform her acting style into something lovely. Choi Hyun-wook will oscillate between a chic workplace superior and a free spirit who wants to follow his heart. It's an irresistible charm."
'The Dark Lord' is set to premiere in the first half of 2025.
