Earlier, during a special lecture for newly appointed public servants at the National Human Resources Development Institute in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, the mention of Bobby sparked considerable interest among attendees, leading to the formal introduction on Instagram.

The president noted, "I felt a bit left out since Bobby often goes to my wife, but upon reflection, it makes sense," adding, "She is the one who feeds him daily, takes him for walks, and plays with him."

He continued, "Since I have less time to spend with Bobby, it makes sense that he feels closer to my wife," and added, "Dogs can really tell who cares for and loves them."

He also expressed, "Watching Bobby stick close to my wife made me think about how animals also have feelings and express them, and I wondered how much more delicately humans can perceive these emotions," emphasizing, "Sincerity resonates with both humans and animals."

President Lee stated, "In an era with 15 million pet owners, more than one in four citizens lives with a pet," and further shared, "Through Bobby, who brings small happiness and warm comfort just by being there, I can understand the hearts of citizens living with pets more deeply."

He added, "I will continue to strive for a society filled with respect and consideration for all life," and expressed his vision for South Korea as an advanced nation in animal welfare, where humans and animals coexist harmoniously and enrich each other's lives.

According to the presidential office, Bobby is a Maltipoo (a crossbreed of Maltese and Poodle) raised by the president's eldest son, Dong-ho, and his wife, and is currently living with the president and first lady at the official residence in Hannam-dong.
