According to an announcement from Geumjeong District on the 14th, a report was received on the 11th that the sign placed at the peak of Godangbong, at an elevation of 801.5 meters, had been damaged. The sign originally had the inscription "Geumjeongsan Godangbong," but someone had attached a yellow paper with the word "Geumjeong" written on it with adhesive over the letters "Godang."

It was confirmed that someone had attached a yellow paper with the word "Geumjeong" over the letters "Godang" using adhesive.

When officials from Geumjeong District arrived at the scene around 2 PM on the same day after receiving the report, the paper had already been removed; however, it was reported that some of the letters on the sign had lost their color due to the adhesive.

The district office plans to carry out restoration work through a professional company to remove the residue of the adhesive remaining on the sign.

Geumjeongsan is a representative mountain of Busan, and the city is actively promoting the process of designating approximately 73,000 hectares of the mountain as a national park.

This mountain is an ecological treasure, home to a total of 1,782 species of organisms, including 13 endangered species such as the otter and the red-bellied hawk. It also possesses 60 natural landscape resources, including rocky cliffs and wetlands, as well as 105 cultural assets, making it a place of very high conservation value.

An official from Geumjeong District stated, "There are no CCTV cameras at the site, making it difficult to identify the perpetrator," adding that "we are considering requesting a police investigation." This incident serves as a wake-up call for the preservation of nature in Geumjeongsan as the process for national park designation approaches.
