Director Hong Sang-soo is heading to one of the world's top six film festivals. His new work has entered the competition segment.
On the 11th (Korean time), the 77th Locarno Film Festival Secretariat announced the films selected for the International Competition segment on its website. Director Hong's 'Sooyuchen' was included in the lineup.
The Locarno Film Festival is one of the world's top six film festivals. It showcases experimental films that are usually hard to see in theaters. It is held every August in Locarno, Switzerland.
This is his fourth official invitation. Director Hong previously visited Locarno with 'Our Sunhi', 'Right Now, Wrong Then', and 'Hotel by the River', receiving awards such as the Golden Leopard.
'Sooyuchen' is about a female university lecturer who asks her blacklisted uncle to direct a farce, leading to various incidents. Kim Min-hee doubled as an actress and producer.
It will be premiered at the Locarno Film Festival. The festival will screen 17 films, including 'Sooyuchen' and Wang Bing's 'Hard Times,' as world premieres.
Meanwhile, the 77th Locarno Film Festival will be held from the 7th to the 17th of next month.
