Actress Kim Hyang-gi will become a strong mother in the new film 'Harlan.' Whenever Studio announced on the 11th, "Kim Hyang-gi has been cast as the lead in the new film 'Harlan,' playing A-jin, a mother in her 20s living in Jeju."
'Harlan' is a period drama set in Jeju. It's a story about a mother and daughter and depicts their desperate struggle for survival. Director Ha Young-mi is responsible for the screenplay and direction.
Kim Hyang-gi has been cast for the role of A-jin, a woman who raises her young daughter in Jeju while leading a tumultuous life. She will showcase the resilience of a mother as well as a woman from Jeju.
Child actress Kim Min-chae will take on the role of Hae-saeng, A-jin's daughter. She was selected after a fierce audition process and is expected to portray a character as strong-willed as her mother.
Kim Hyang-gi stated, "This is a project from which I can learn a lot, not only as an actress but also as a person," and vowed, "I will approach it with a solemn heart and give my best effort."
Director Ha Young-mi commented, "Kim Hyang-gi joining the project has been a tremendous boost. Through the difficult journey that A-jin endures, we aim to showcase human nature and strong motherhood."
Meanwhile, 'Harlan' is scheduled to start filming this fall and aims for a release next year.
