The sasaeng fans who stole personal information of EXO and NCT have been sentenced to fines.
SM Entertainment announced the results of the lawsuit regarding the theft of EXO and NCT-related personal information on its reporting site 'KWANGYA119' on the 10th.
In April last year, some sasaeng fans impersonated delivery men on a Twitter live broadcast and disclosed the artists' personal information to the public.
SM filed a lawsuit on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
The police identified four suspects. Among them, two who directly called the artists were sent to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
The defendants admitted to all the charges. Each of the two defendants was sentenced to a fine of 3 million won.
SM stated, "We deeply appreciate the fans' reports, which have been a great help in taking legal action against illegal acts targeting our artists."
The damage continues. "Unauthorizedly obtaining the artists' phone numbers and home addresses, then calling them or visiting them, has been ongoing for a long period," they lamented.
The agency pointed out, "Although the artists have endured this because they are celebrities, they are experiencing serious mental distress. This is a serious criminal act."
They plan to respond with a zero-tolerance policy. "Cease any acts that invade the artists' privacy immediately," SM said, urging everyone to "be cautious not to be involved in unpleasant incidents."
