70-Year-Old Captain Missing at Yongjongdo, Incheon Found Dead After Six Days
A 70-year-old captain who went missing from a fishing boat found with the engine running in the waters near Yongjongdo, Incheon, has been discovered dead six days later.
The Coast Guard is currently investigating to determine the exact cause of death.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard, at around 4:46 PM on the 7th, a report was received stating that “an object believed to be a corpse is floating in the sea” near Jakyakdo in Donggu, Incheon.
The coast guard immediately dispatched personnel to the scene and recovered the body, which was confirmed to be that of the missing Captain A (in his 70s) after fingerprint verification.
Investigation status and circumstances of the incident
The investigation revealed that Captain A fell into the sea while operating a 1.11-ton fishing boat.
The fishing boat was found floating in the sea with the engine running, and searches had been ongoing since the captain went missing.
The Incheon Coast Guard has requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service to confirm the exact cause of Captain A's death.

A Coast Guard official stated, "So far, no criminal allegations have been confirmed," but added, "We will investigate the exact circumstances based on the autopsy results."
Maritime safety incidents can pose risks, especially for elderly fishermen, prompting the coast guard to emphasize once again the importance of adhering to fishing boat safety regulations and wearing life-saving equipment.
