The rookie group 'Nine' has proven their immense popularity right from their debut album. According to Hanteo Chart, Nine's first mini-album 'WHO WE ARE' sold approximately 360,985 copies in the week following its release (July 1 to July 7). This places it fifth in the history of boy group debut album first-week sales, following Zero Base One, RISE, X1, and Wanna One. Among boy groups that debuted this year, it is the highest record.
The digital performance is also impressive. All tracks entered the Bugs real-time chart, with the title track ‘Rendezvous’ reaching number one immediately upon release. Within just a week of its release, the music video for the title track exceeded 26.92 million views as of 4 PM on the eighth day, marking the highest view count among boy groups that debuted this year.
A representative remarked, “Nine captures the inner world of boys living with both anxiety and hope. The members’ sincere emotions have been embedded in the album, and that sincerity has resonated with listeners.”
They also emphasized the musical color, stating, “The title track contains a nostalgic melody reminiscent of the old days. The unique sound that is rarely found in the recent K-pop market seems to have driven positive responses.”
Nine was formed through the SBS-TV audition program 'Universe League'. A total of nine members were selected: Steven, Seo Jung Woo, Cha Woong Gi, Zhang Shui Bo, Park Han, Jay L, Park Joo Won, Zuen, and Daisuke.
