2025 First Half Review of the Go World: Shin Jin-seo's Overwhelming Dominance
The strongest player in the Go world, Shin Jin-seo 9th dan, continues to demonstrate overwhelming dominance by sweeping all categories of the Go world in the first half of 2025.
According to the records compiled up to June 30, 2025, Shin Jin-seo 9th dan ranked first in wins, winning percentage, winning streaks, and prize money, proving once again that he is the strongest player in Korean Go.

During the first half of the year, Shin Jin-seo 9th dan played a total of 41 games, recording 35 wins and 6 losses, reaching a winning percentage of 85.37%. Notably, he achieved an astonishing winning streak of 25, placing him at the top in that category as well.
In terms of prize money, he earned a total of 560 million KRW, including 260 million KRW from winning the Nanyang Cup and 154 million KRW from winning the Nongshim Shin Ramyeon Cup, securing the first place.
Korean Go's Strength and Performance in International Tournaments
In terms of wins, Park Jeong-hwan 9th dan followed Shin Jin-seo with a record of 30 wins and 17 losses from 47 games, placing second.
In the winning percentage category, Yoo Chang-hyuk 9th dan ranked second with a winning rate of 79.17% (19 wins and 5 losses), while Lee Ji-hyun 9th dan ranked second in winning streaks with 18 consecutive wins.

The achievements of female players also stood out. Kim Eun-ji 9th dan secured the most wins among female players with a record of 28 wins and 16 losses, while Choi Jeong 9th dan recorded the highest winning percentage among female players with 69.23% (18 wins and 8 losses).
Meanwhile, in the four major world tournaments held in the first half of 2025, Korea and China each shared two championship trophies.
Korea's Byeon Sang-il 9th dan won the LG Cup, and Shin Jin-seo 9th dan claimed the Nanyang Cup, while China's Wang Xinghao 9th dan secured the Beihai Shinya Cup, and Yang Kaiyuan 9th dan took the Chunlan Cup.
