The movie 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning' (directed by Christopher McQuarrie) has become the highest-grossing film of the year. According to the Korean Film Council's integrated cinema ticketing system, 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning' (hereafter referred to as 'Mission: Impossible 8') surpassed a cumulative audience of 3,378,031 on the 7th. It broke the previous record held by 'The Opposition' (directed by Hwang Byeong-guk) with an audience count of 3,377,849. After its release on May 17, it has shown impressive longevity, claiming the top spot at the box office this year.
From the very first day of its release, it raised concerns about box office potential. 'Mission: Impossible 8' attracted 423,944 viewers on its opening day alone, marking the highest opening score of the year. However, when compared to previous installments, the results are somewhat disappointing. 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning' attracted 4.02 million viewers, while 'Mission: Impossible 3' had a final audience count of 5.74 million.
Meanwhile, 'Mission: Impossible 8' is the eighth installment in the 'Mission: Impossible' series, depicting Ethan Hunt (played by Tom Cruise) and his IMF team as they work to save humanity.
