A 30-Year-Old Woman Sentenced to Probation for Reckless Driving While Intoxicated
A 30-year-old female driver, who engaged in reckless driving on the highway while intoxicated, has received a suspended prison sentence.
On the 6th of this month, the Daegu District Court's Criminal Division 6 (Judge Yoo Sung-hyun) sentenced A (39) to 1 year and 6 months in prison, with a 3-year probation, for violations of the Road Traffic Act (driving under the influence).

Additionally, she was ordered to undergo 120 hours of community service and attend 40 hours of lawful driving lectures.
A is accused of committing reckless driving while operating her vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.174%, which is at a level that warrants license revocation, on the Jungbu Inland Expressway toward Yangpyeong on August 3rd of last year.
At the time, as another vehicle overtook A's vehicle and made contact with her driver's side before stopping about 20 meters ahead, A chased after the vehicle and intentionally collided with it.
Details of the Accident and Extent of Damage
The female driver B (36), involved in the accident, had stopped on the shoulder of the road after the initial contact, and it was determined that A intentionally crashed into the back of B's vehicle.

Three children were in the back seat of B's vehicle, and they sustained injuries equivalent to two weeks of medical treatment. It is also reported that A had children in her vehicle.
A fled the scene immediately after the accident but was later apprehended by the police. Investigations revealed that A had driven approximately 168 km while intoxicated, starting from Wachon-myeon in Gyeongbuk.
The court stated, "The victims are expressing severe psychological trauma and are demanding a harsh punishment."
The ruling further explained, "Considering that the defendant not only drove with children in the vehicle but also exhibited abnormal driving behavior by swerving between lanes, which contributed to the contact incident."
