Minseong Recovery Consumption Coupons Application Starts from 21st, Minimum Payment of 150,000 KRW per Person

The application for the Minseong Recovery Consumption Coupons, the first economic stimulus plan of the Yoon Suk-yeol government, will take place over an eight-week period from the 21st of this month to September 12th.

On the 5th, the government announced the '1st Payment Plan for Minseong Recovery Consumption Coupons' at the Government Seoul Building, unveiling detailed information about the consumption stimulation policy for all citizens.

These consumption coupons will be issued to all South Korean citizens residing in the country as of June 18, with a basic payment amount of 150,000 KRW per person.

For vulnerable groups, tailored support will be strengthened, with the second-lowest income bracket and single-parent families receiving 300,000 KRW, and basic living beneficiaries receiving 400,000 KRW.

Additionally, to promote balanced regional development, residents outside of the metropolitan areas of Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon will receive an additional 30,000 KRW, while residents in 84 rural and fishing villages facing extinction due to population decline will receive an extra 50,000 KRW.

Application Method, Usage Locations, and a Day-Based System to Prevent Congestion

Consumption coupons can be applied for at the local government office corresponding to the resident's registered address, and adults born on or before December 31, 2006, can apply individually.

Applications will begin at 9 AM on the 21st, and recipients can choose to receive their coupons via credit or debit card, prepaid card, or local love gift certificate.

For those who wish to receive their coupons as credit or debit cards, applications can be made through the website or app of the card company they are using, call centers, or affiliated bank branches.

Consumption coupons will be issued starting the day after application, and when paying at eligible stores, the consumption coupons will be automatically prioritized.

Local love gift certificates can be applied for through the local government app or website, while paper-based gift certificates or prepaid cards can be applied for by visiting the administrative welfare center of the appropriate township.

To prevent system overload, a day-based application system will be implemented in the first week, based on the last digit of the birth year.

Individuals born on Mondays can apply if their birth years end in 1 or 6, on Tuesdays if they end in 2 or 7, on Wednesdays if they end in 3 or 8, on Thursdays if they end in 4 or 9, and on Fridays if they end in 5 or 0. All individuals can apply freely on weekends.

Applications for consumption coupons will close at 6 PM on September 12, making it essential to apply within the designated period.

Kim Min-jae, the head of the intergovernmental task force for the Minseong Recovery Consumption Coupons and Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, stated, “We will thoroughly prepare for the seamless implementation of the Minseong Recovery Consumption Coupons as a catalyst for our economy's recovery, aiming to capture both overall consumption activation and income support for those in need.”
