A man in his 50s, undergoing treatment for alcoholism, has been arrested on charges of murdering an acquaintance while under the influence of alcohol.
On the 4th, the Sancheong Police Station announced that they have arrested Mr. A as a current offender on suspicion of murder.
Mr. A is accused of stabbing Mr. B, also in his 50s, in the thigh with a weapon while they were drinking together at a residence in Dalseong-myeon, Sancheong County, around 9 a.m. on that day.
Upon receiving a report from a village resident, police responded and apprehended Mr. A at the scene.

As the investigation revealed, Mr. A and Mr. B had met while both were receiving treatment at an alcohol rehabilitation facility located in Daegu.
Mr. B had left the hospital on the 2nd and went to the home of his mother in Sancheong. He called Mr. A, who was scheduled to be discharged on the 3rd, to ask him to bring his belongings.
The two men met in Sancheong and were found to have been drinking together from the night of the 3rd until the early morning of the following day. Mr. A was discovered asleep next to Mr. B after committing the act in a state of intoxication.

During police questioning, Mr. A reportedly stated, "I don’t remember anything because I was drunk."
A police official explained, "The suspect stabbed the victim in the thigh once while intoxicated, which accidentally severed the femoral artery, leading to significant blood loss and causing the victim's death."
The police plan to request an arrest warrant for Mr. A after further investigating the exact motive behind the crime.
