Lee President’s Words to Attendees Bowing Their Heads While Receiving Appointment Letters

President Lee Jae-myung awarded the appointment letter to new Prime Minister Kim Min-seok at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul.

On the 4th, President Lee presented the appointment letter to Prime Minister Kim at the 'Appointment and Commission Ceremony' held in the Free Hall.

On this day, President Lee greeted Prime Minister Kim with a handshake, saying, "I look forward to working with you," to which Prime Minister Kim responded by bowing deeply in greeting.

Next, when Prime Minister Kim's spouse received a bouquet from President Lee and also bowed deeply, President Lee lightened the tense atmosphere, saying to the attendees waiting nearby, "Don't bow too much. It makes me look like a strange person."

Hearing this joke, Prime Minister Kim smiled brightly at President Lee again on the stage for a commemorative photo.

During the photo session, when Prime Minister Kim appeared somewhat awkward, an attendee remarked, "It's his first time as prime minister," adding to the warm atmosphere of the ceremony.

In the same event, President Lee also awarded appointment letters to Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik, National Security Office Chief Wi Sung-lak, Presidential Policy Office Chief Kim Yong-beom, National Intelligence Service Director Lee Jong-seok, Government Coordination Office Chief Yoon Chang-ryul, and National Planning Commission Chair Lee Han-joo.

Earlier, on his inauguration day on the 4th of last month, President Lee nominated Kim as the candidate for Prime Minister. About a month later, on the 3rd, Kim's nomination was approved in the National Assembly's plenary session.

Approximately two hours later, at 5:36 PM on the same day, President Lee approved the Prime Minister's appointment.

In his first official action after taking office, Prime Minister Kim met with farmers' organizations, including the Korean Farmers' Federation, which were protesting against the decision to retain Minister of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs Song Mi-ryeong.

Afterward, he visited the National Memorial Hall in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, paying respects at the Memorial Tower and leaving a message in the guest book saying, "A Republic of Korea where the people are the masters. I will make it a reality."
