Kim Geon-hee's Family-Run Nursing Home Prepares for Lawsuit After 1.4 Billion Won Recovery Decision
The National Health Insurance Service has decided to recover 1.44 billion won from the nursing home operated by Kim Geon-hee's family, and the nursing home is reportedly preparing a lawsuit via a major law firm.

Previously, the Health Insurance Service found that the nursing home in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, run by Kim Geon-hee's brother, Kim Jin-woo, had violated personnel placement standards and falsely registered working hours to inappropriately claim salaries.
It was investigated that at the nursing home, the sanitation worker was operating a transportation vehicle instead of performing laundry duties, and the administrator was engaged in both laundry and management tasks, violating regulations on personnel management.
Additionally, it was confirmed that although the actual working hours of the employees fell below the monthly standard, they registered excess working hours in the system to receive additional pay.

Nursing Home's Response and Final Decision by the Service
According to a JTBC exclusive report on the 2nd, the nursing home objected to the findings of the Service and submitted a counterstatement.
A representative from the nursing home, identified as A, explained, "Originally, the sanitation worker and administrator mutually complemented each other’s work," adding, "We can’t just let our employees sit idle and still pay them."
However, the Health Insurance Service rejected all of the nursing home’s arguments and confirmed the recovery decision.
The Health Insurance Service decided to deduct 1.44 billion won from the nursing home's nursing welfare expenses starting this month.

In response, the nursing home has chosen a major law firm to file a lawsuit against the Service’s decision.
A stated to JTBC, "They say that if we proceed with the lawsuit, the nursing home has a high chance of winning."
In this regard, Jeon Jin-sook, chair of the Health and Welfare Committee of the National Assembly, raised the need for additional investigations, stating, "There has not been sufficient local investigation regarding accounting fraud or elder abuse issues."
She also emphasized the need for a quicker investigation and prompt administrative action.
The Health Insurance Service is reportedly preparing to file criminal charges against the nursing home over the inappropriate claim case as early as next week.
