‘Shin Chan’ Surprises Fans with Stunning Visuals as ’20s Jjanga’ in Live-Action Version (Video)

"Where Did the 'Baby' Jjang-a, Who Only Knew Jewelry, Go?" Jjang-a's Transformation After 20 Years

The beloved animated series "Crayon Shin-chan," which gathered all the neighborhood kids in front of the television with its familiar phrase "Let's play, Shin-chan," has been transformed into live-action.

According to a report by the online media Zizai News on the 30th of last month (local time), Coca-Cola's barley tea brand "Yakan no Mugicha" has been releasing the first-ever live-action short films of "Crayon Shin-chan" since last April.

In the first live-action film, 25-year-old Shin-chan, who has grown into a tall young man but still dislikes green peppers, caught viewers' attention. Recently, in the newly released sixth episode, Jjang-a, Shin-chan's sister, who is now 20 years old, has become a topic of discussion.

Wearing sparkling earrings and a necklace, and with a somewhat irritated expression, the woman who outright rejected a man approaching her was surprisingly Jjang-a.

With her trademark light brown hair and wearing a yellow top just like 20 years ago when she was a newborn, Jjang-a was waiting for Shin-chan in front of the subway station, a common setting in the original series.

The actress Hata Mei, 24, who plays adult Jjang-a, portrayed the scene where she came to welcome Shin-chan, who had returned briefly to his hometown after leaving Tuck-in Village for work.

Additionally, her love for shiny accessories and both earrings and necklace sparked nostalgia for adults who grew up watching Shin-chan.

It turns out that Jjang-a went to the station to meet Shin-chan without letting him know. She hurried to the station out of longing, but felt too shy to actually say it when she got there.

Shin-chan's parents, Shinhyung-man and Bong Mi-seon, were shown desperately waiting for their son, who was visiting their hometown, by calling him.

Upon hearing this, netizens reacted with comments like "Jjang-a has grown up," "I thought she'd be a baby forever," "I should watch Shin-chan again after a long time," and "Even when she’s prickly, she’s a cute little sister."

Meanwhile, "Crayon Shin-chan" is keeping the inner child of both kids and adults alive by re-releasing "Clash! Kingdom of Doodles and Four-ish Heroes" in June.
