"Can't find the way…" After an argument, a murder occurred

A man in his twenties, who killed a taxi driver and injured local residents while fleeing, has been apprehended by the police.

On the 28th, the Gyeonggi Hwaseong Western Police Station announced plans to request an arrest warrant for 21-year-old A, who faces charges of murder, theft, and injuries under the Special Act on Traffic Accident Handling.

A is suspected of murdering B, a taxi driver in his sixties, with a weapon on a road in Samhwa-ri, Bibong-myeon, Hwaseong City at around 3:27 AM on the 26th. He is also accused of hitting two local residents with his car while fleeing, causing them each to sustain fractures and contusions.

The police launched a search after receiving a report from one of the victims stating that they "witnessed the murder scene," and A was urgently arrested in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 4:40 AM, about an hour after fleeing. At the time of his arrest, the taxi A was driving had a flat front tire.

According to police investigations, A was returning home to Hwaseong City from Gangnam, Seoul, and it is reported that he had a conflict with B concerning directions. During this altercation, A allegedly stopped the taxi, killed B, and subsequently fled in the victim’s taxi.

The police conducted an overnight investigation on A and are currently verifying his history of mental health treatments. Initial drug tests showed negative results. The two injured residents were transported to the hospital and are not in life-threatening condition.

A has been confirmed to have supported himself through part-time jobs without a stable occupation. The police plan to analyze the circumstances, motives, and psychological state of the crime comprehensively and apply for an arrest warrant within the day.
