Tragedy During Sewage Tank Cleaning: Both Employee and Owner Die

A tragic incident occurred at a food processing company in Yeosu, South Jeolla Province, where an accident during sewage tank cleaning claimed the lives of both an employee and the owner.

On the afternoon of the 27th at 1:26 PM, the Yeosu Fire Department received a report that two individuals had collapsed at the food processing company located in Manheung-dong and promptly dispatched a team to the scene.

According to the on-site investigation by the fire authorities, a 58-year-old male employee, Mr. A, was conducting cleaning work to remove debris inside the sewage tank when he suddenly complained of dizziness and collapsed. Witnessing this, the 65-year-old male owner, Mr. B, entered the sewage tank to rescue the employee but ended up collapsing as well, leading to a chain reaction of accidents.

When the emergency responders arrived, Mr. A was already in a state of brain death, and despite being transported to the hospital, he ultimately passed away. Mr. B, who also suffered injuries while trying to save the employee and was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest, did not survive.

The police are currently investigating whether there were harmful substances present within the company.
