Jennie, Another ‘Album of the Year’… Billboard and UK NME Both Praise It Highly

'BLACKPINK' Jennie is sweeping the "Best Albums of 2025" lists from renowned music media around the world.

On the 27th, the British music magazine NME announced its list of "Best Albums of 2025" on its official website, selecting a total of 25 albums. Among them, K-pop artists included only Jennie and G-Dragon.

Jennie made the list with her first solo studio album, "RUBY." NME commented, "Jennie has transcended the buzz around BLACKPINK, boldly showcasing her own creative vision." It further noted, "After enduring years of scrutiny, she has now turned the camera on herself, writing her own narrative with astonishing clarity." The track "ZEN" was also recommended.

With this album, Jennie was also selected in the "Best Albums of 2025" lists by well-known American media outlets Billboard, Rolling Stone, and Complex, making her the only K-pop artist included among them.

Billboard critic Christine Wisnevski highlighted Jennie's production skills, praising her, stating, "RUBY is an impressive first project where Jennie's confidence, elegance, and self-assurance shine."

"RUBY" is an album infused with Jennie's identity. It features a total of 15 tracks spanning diverse genres, including EDM, R&B, and hip-hop. Jennie participated in writing and composing 12 of the tracks, showcasing her production abilities.

She also set several records. "RUBY" surpassed initial sales of 661,130 copies, achieving the highest first-week sales among K-pop female solo artists this year. It later reached million-seller status.

The album performed well on global music charts as well, debuting at number 7 on the U.S. Billboard 200. It also reached 3rd place on the UK Official Albums Chart, marking the highest ranking for a K-pop female solo artist ever.
