Iksan Apartment Air Conditioner Outdoor Unit Explosion, Foreign Workers' Whereabouts Unknown

An explosion occurred in the outdoor unit of an air conditioner at an apartment in Iksan, Jeollabuk-do, and the foreign workers residing in the affected unit have disappeared, prompting police to locate them.

According to the Jeollabuk-do Fire Department, the explosion happened at approximately 7:08 PM on the previous day in an apartment located in Buseong-dong, Iksan. The explosion scattered debris from the outdoor unit, breaking windows in nearby units and causing damage to some vehicles in the apartment parking lot.

Windows in nearby units were broken and some vehicles in the apartment parking lot were damaged.

An investigation by the fire department revealed that seven foreign workers were living in the unit where the explosion occurred. However, when firefighters arrived at the scene, they could not find any trace of them.

Police Tracking Foreign Workers' Whereabouts

The police, responding to the fire department’s request for cooperation, are currently tracking the whereabouts of the foreign workers.

Police suspect that they left the apartment immediately after the outdoor unit explosion and are checking local hospitals for any records of the foreign workers visiting for treatment, considering the possibility that they may have sustained injuries.

A police official briefly stated, "We are assessing the situation, but it is difficult to provide detailed information at this time."
