Lee Jin-sook, Chairman of the Korea Communications Commission: “Align the ‘term’ with the President”… Democratic Party’s Choi Min-hee: “The brain structure seems strange.”

Minhee Choi Criticizes Jin-sook Lee for "Abnormal Brain Structure"

Minhee Choi, the chairperson of the National Assembly's Science, Technology, Information and Broadcasting Committee and a member of the Democratic Party, has launched a fierce critique against Jin-sook Lee, the chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission.

Choi stated that instead of resigning, Lee demanded an extension of her term, questioning, "Isn't there something abnormal about her brain structure?"

On the afternoon of the 25th, Choi appeared on MBC Radio's "Jeon Jong-bae's News High Kick" and strongly criticized Lee, saying, "On the 19th, during the Cabinet meeting and other occasions, Jin-sook Lee told President Lee Jae-myung, 'Please guarantee my term,' 'It would be better to align the KCC chairperson's term with the president's term,' and 'I did it as a sole commissioner.' In short, it’s nonsense."

"Exhibitionist Behavior": Harsh Criticism

Choi pointed out, "Such behavior is unacceptable. The KCC chairperson is supposed to be an observer, yet continually speaking at Cabinet meetings is exhibitionist behavior."

She noted that she had previously referred to Lee's brain structure as "strange" and claimed, "It still holds true."

Specifically, Choi expressed discomfort regarding Lee's request to align her term with the president’s, interpreting it as "an indication that she wants to serve another five years," hence her remark about Lee's "abnormal brain structure."

Dismisses Political Entry Possibility

Choi criticized Lee’s ambitions, stating, "If she wants to raise her profile as a 'conservative female warrior' or a 'far-right female warrior,' a wise person would know how to speak appropriately. However, she seems to be overly ambitious without proper preparation."

Furthermore, she dismissed the possibility of Lee entering politics, remarking, "If the People Power Party is restructured as a normal party, the possibility of her political entry is zero."

Meanwhile, the term for the KCC chairperson is three years, and Jin-sook Lee was appointed on July 31, 2024, during the Yoon Suk-yeol administration.

Lee's request for a term extension is raising further controversy regarding the independence and political neutrality of broadcasting and telecommunications regulatory agencies.
