Kim So-hyun and Chae Jong-hyeop evoke the emotions of first love.
tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama "Is It a Coincidence?" (written by Park Geu-ro, directed by Song Hyun-wook) has released two teaser videos. The teasers recall their 19-year-old selves from the perspectives of the two main characters.
First, in Hong Joo's (played by Kim So-hyun) teaser, she is portrayed confessing to Kang Hoo-young (played by Chae Jong-hyeop). The confession takes place in various locations such as the hallway, playground, and even in front of the bathroom.
Next, we see the 29-year-old Lee Hong Joo. She has completely changed from her heartfelt young self and has become cynical about love to the point of regretting her naïve first love.
Her story piques curiosity. She says, "First love is just something any fool falls for without knowing any better." However, her reunion with Hoo-young hints at a change.
In Hoo-young's teaser, the memories are conflicting. Hong Joo recalls Hoo-young as "a person devoid of humanity, like a smart but emotionally immature child."
She also claims he has probably never liked anyone before. However, Hoo-young was actually watching someone back then. He smiled while looking at a young photo of Hong Joo.
"Is It a Coincidence?" is a first-love memory revival romance. It's a story about meeting one's clumsy and awkward first love by chance and getting entangled in destiny to fall in love again.
Kim So-hyun plays Lee Hong Joo, an animation production PD. She becomes cynical about love after going through a harsh breakup caused by her first love during her school days.
Chae Jong-hyeop plays financial planner Kang Hoo-young. He is known for his handsome looks and brilliant mind. He reunites with his first love Lee Hong Joo and faces a storm of emotions.
The drama is directed by Song Hyun-wook, known for his work on "The Beauty Inside" and "Another Miss Oh," which earned him the title of 'rom-com master.' He collaborates with rookie writer Park Geu-ro.
"Is It a Coincidence?" will premiere on the 22nd at 8:40 PM.
