Ticks Found in Daegu Hotel, Guests Suffer Bites

Dozens of ticks were discovered in a hotel in Daegu, leading to incidents where guests suffered from bites.

The affected family received medical treatment but has been embroiled in controversy as the hotel has not provided proper compensation even a month later.

According to a report by SBS on the 20th, numerous ticks were found in a hotel in Daegu, and all guests who stayed there unknowingly had to seek medical treatment.

According to testimonies from the affected guests, black bugs were discovered on the blankets in the hotel room, and these bugs were seen crawling on the walls and ceiling. Upon closer inspection, it was confirmed that there were far more than just one or two ticks, with estimates exceeding 100.

On the 24th of last month, a family of four, visiting from outside, suffered tick bites while staying at this hotel.

An affected guest recounted, "I thought I was bitten by mosquitoes and kept sleeping, but when I felt something crawling, I checked my face. I could feel something like dust rolling off. I turned on the flashlight on my phone and saw something that looked like ticks crawling."

Tick Bites and Hotel’s Inadequate Response

The family's young son and daughter showed symptoms of redness on their skin from tick bites, and ultimately, the entire family had to receive hospital treatment. Additionally, several clothing items were discarded due to the ticks.

The more troubling issue was the hotel's response.

Over a month has passed since the hotel confirmed the damages and promised compensation, yet no action has been taken. In response, a hotel representative explained, "Medical treatment can take one year, and two years, and we cannot provide ongoing settlements during that time. We believe it's appropriate to fully compensate once the guests have fully recovered."

This hotel is known for being close to amusement parks and is a frequent destination for vacationers; it has received a notice of penalty as a result of this incident.

For the family visiting Daegu, this experience has become an unforgettable nightmare.
