“Boys’ Age 2” Production Confirmed… Director Lee Myung-woo Says “This Time, We’re Going to Susa High School”

Coupang Play's series 'Youth Era' has confirmed the production of a new season. Following the background set in a farming high school in Chungcheong Province, the story will unfold against the backdrop of a coastal seafood high school, focusing on the lives of youth.

Director Lee Myung-woo of 'Youth Era' expressed his excitement about the confirmation of Season 2 on the 20th, saying, "Thanks to the passionate support from viewers in Season 1, I am delighted to continue the new stories of 'Youth Era.'"

He further stated, "This season will take place in a new setting of a coastal seafood high school," adding, "We aim to present stories involving more diverse and three-dimensional characters."

Lastly, he requested anticipation, saying, "We plan to capture familiar yet new, cheerful yet heartfelt moments of youth."

'Youth Era' is a comedy-drama introduced by Coupang Play in 2023. It depicts the story of a loser named Byeong-tae, who transforms into the top figure in Buyeo overnight in 1989, Chungcheongnam-do.

The series was beloved for its cheerful dialect and unique characters. Particularly, the Chungcheong dialect phrases like "I-yi~," "Gaboneungyeo" became catchphrases. Lead actor Im Si-wan also garnered significant attention for his acting skills.

'Youth Era' recorded the highest viewership for Coupang Play that year. Throughout 2024, it garnered a total of seven awards at various award ceremonies.

The series received recognition for excellence from the 3rd Blue Dragon Series Awards, 2024 Asia Content Awards & Global OTT Awards, 15th Korea Drama Awards, and 2024 Content Asia Awards.

Season 2 is currently being prepared with a target to start filming in the first half of next year. The release date will be announced later. Season 1 of 'Youth Era' is available for free viewing for all members, including general members, on Coupang Play.
