Assault on a Jindo Dog with a Blunt Object in Yeoju, Police Investigation Underway

In Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, a Jindo dog suffered serious injuries after being struck by what is presumed to be a blunt object, prompting police to initiate an investigation.

According to the Yeoju Police Station on the 13th, a 2-year-old Jindo dog was discovered bleeding from its head by its owner in a rural housing complex in Yeoju.

At the time of discovery, the dog's head had multiple injuries that appeared to be caused by blunt force trauma. After being taken to a veterinary hospital, the veterinarian concluded that the injuries seemed consistent with being struck by a tool similar to a shovel. The Jindo dog has been diagnosed with orbital fracture and is reported to be in a considerably serious condition.

Following the vet's assessment, the owner, identified as Mr. A, formally reported the incident to the police on the following day, the 14th. The Yeoju Police Station initiated an investigation based on the suspicion of violation of the Animal Protection Act (animal abuse).

Police are currently focusing on tracking down the suspect by securing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area around the crime scene and collecting witness testimonies.

As public interest in animal abuse crimes has risen recently, penalties are becoming stricter.

A representative from the Yeoju Police Station stated on the 18th that "an investigation is currently underway to identify the suspect."

The police are concentrating their efforts on uncovering the exact circumstances of the incident and identifying the perpetrator.
