SEVENTEEN takes a firm stance against malicious commenters. They have declared an all-out war by requesting the release of information about the posters of harmful content from overseas courts.
Pledis Entertainment posted an announcement on their official SNS on the 17th regarding the legal actions being taken against malicious posts related to SEVENTEEN, including defamation and the spread of false information.
They have already filed lawsuits against some netizens. "The defendants identified in the lawsuits have been referred to the prosecution as the charges have been acknowledged. We are awaiting the results of their disposition," they stated.
They added, "We actively cooperated with the investigation process to ensure that those referred to face severe penalties. There are ongoing cases where we are substantiating the facts of the damages incurred."
The agency noted that they have been monitoring social media, community sites, and streaming platforms to gather evidence of malicious posts. "Based on this, we submitted a complaint to the investigative authorities," they mentioned.
In particular, they conveyed that reports from fans on the overseas social media platform 'X' have been helpful. "Based on these reports, we have initiated legal actions, including criminal complaints and civil lawsuits," they explained.
Pledis further added, "We are currently undertaking relevant legal procedures, including requests for information from overseas jurisdictional courts, to verify the identities of the account holders and implement follow-up measures."
There will be no leniency. "We will not stop at a one-off action; we will continuously document everything," and emphasized, "We will take all legal measures to ensure that punishments are carried out without leniency or settlement."
Lastly, they concluded, "We thank the fans for their love and dedication towards SEVENTEEN. We will do our utmost to protect the precious values that both our fans and SEVENTEEN have upheld."
