Gangnam Hotel Parking Lot: Teens Caught by Police

Three teenage boys were arrested by the police for stealing valuables from vehicles that were not locked in the Gangnam area of Seoul.

The Gangnam Police Station announced on the 16th that they apprehended the three teenage males on the previous day around 5 p.m. on charges of special burglary.

They are suspected of stealing from five unlocked vehicles parked in the parking lot of Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, in the early hours of the 13th. The suspects are accused of stealing 400,000 won in cash, 1,000 yuan in foreign currency, 80,000 won worth of gift certificates, luxury wallets and bags, and credit cards from inside the cars.

On the same day, around 6:20 a.m., they attempted additional theft at a hotel parking lot in Gangnam but were discovered due to a 112 report made by a hotel staff member.

Upon receiving the report, the police began searching and quickly apprehended the teens at a nearby motel around 9 a.m.

Following the investigation of the detained teenagers, the police confirmed four additional cases related to their activities besides this incident. Consequently, the police applied for arrest warrants for the suspects.

This vehicle theft incident in Gangnam serves as a reminder of the importance of enhancing parking lot security and verifying that vehicles are locked.
