TWICE has proven their popularity in Japan. They recently added another certification from the local recording association.
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) published its gold disc certification list for May. TWICE received 'Gold' certification for their fifth best album '#TWICE5.'
'Gold' certification is one of the nine criteria presented by RIAJ, granted to albums that have shipped over 100,000 copies based on cumulative shipments.
They also obtained certification in the streaming category. The title track from their second studio album, 'I CAN'T STOP ME,' achieved double platinum certification.
As of April, 'I CAN'T STOP ME' has surpassed a cumulative play count of 200 million. This is the third achievement, setting a record for the most certifications by a K-pop girl group.
TWICE is set to release new material in Japan soon. They will make a local comeback on August 27 with their sixth studio album 'ENEMY.' They are predicted to make a strong impact.
They are also preparing for domestic activities, with their fourth studio album 'THIS IS FOR' scheduled to be released next month on the 11th. They will highlight their presence as a global girl group.
Meanwhile, TWICE will perform as headliners at 'Lollapalooza Chicago' in Grant Park, Illinois, on August 3 (KST).
