Another worker in his 50s collapses at the Taean Thermal Power Plant, where a fatal accident occurred a week ago… Transferred to hospital

A workplace accident occurred again at the Taean Thermal Power Plant in South Chungcheong Province, where a worker collapsed, just a week after a fatal incident.

According to the Taean Fire Station and others on the 9th, a worker identified as A collapsed while working at the Taean Thermal Power Plant around 1:30 PM and was transported to the hospital.

A was found in a state of cardiac arrest, but he was revived through emergency treatment, including CPR administered by the plant's internal fire brigade, and was then handed over to arriving paramedics who took him to a nearby hospital.

The non-regular workers' union reported that during an inspection of the indoor coal storage facility, two workers were pulling a rope when one noticed that A did not respond and found him collapsed.

A, who arrived at the hospital in cardiac arrest, is currently said to have regained breathing but remains unconscious.

Korea Western Power Co. stated that they are confirming the precise circumstances of the accident.

Meanwhile, on the 2nd, at the same power plant, an employee named Kim Chung-hyun, belonging to a subcontractor of Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), died in a fatal accident while working alone.

The police are investigating compliance with safety guidelines at the worksite and the exact circumstances of the accident, as well as reviewing the application of relevant laws.

This incident marks another serious disaster occurring six years after the death of Kim Yong-kyun in 2018, and the union has promised a thorough investigation into the causes and prevention of recurrence.
