Abusive biological mother sentenced to probation
A biological mother in her 30s, who acted as if she would hit her dog and assaulted her daughter who reported it, has been sentenced to probation.
According to the legal community on the 7th, the Incheon District Court’s Criminal Division 2 (Chief Judge Kim Ji-hoo) sentenced A, a woman in her 30s, to six months in prison with a one-year probation for violations of the Child Welfare Act (child abuse), property damage, and obstruction of official duties.
She has also been ordered to attend a 40-hour child abuse recidivism prevention lecture.
Judge Kim stated, "Considering the circumstances, targets, and frequency of the crime, the guilt is not light," but added, "A has acknowledged her wrongdoing and is showing remorse."
He further explained the sentencing reasons by saying, "The victims expressed to the investigative authorities that they do not wish for A to be punished and hope for leniency," and that "A's amicable settlement with the husband, C, was considered a favorable factor."

According to the court document, A is accused of violently striking her 7-year-old daughter's head twice after taking her cellphone on November 7 last year at around 12:28 a.m. in an apartment in Juandan-dong, Michuhol-gu, Incheon.
Prior to this, A acted as if she would hit her dog, and when her daughter reported it to the police, she became angry and committed the assault.
Following the assault on her daughter, while having a quarrel with her husband, A is also charged with throwing a laptop worth 3.3 million won and other items belonging to her husband into the hallway outside the front door, causing damage.
On the same day, around 12:47 a.m., A allegedly assaulted a police officer who responded to the scene by shoving him in the chest with her hand.
