Suspicion of Accompanying Drunk Driving: Police Investigation Underway for Daegu City Council Member
Jeong Jae-mok, a council member from the South Daegu district of the People Power Party, allegedly drove after drinking but swapped seats right before being pulled over, receiving a warning instead.
According to the Daegu Seongseo Police Station on the 6th, Council Member Jeong drove his private vehicle after drinking with a female acquaintance, identified as A, at a restaurant located in Dalseo-gu on April 26th. Jeong switched places with A just before being caught in the drunk driving check.
On that day at 9:55 PM, A was caught in the police's drunk driving check, with her blood alcohol content measured at a level that warranted suspension of her driver’s license. In contrast, Council Member Jeong was measured at below 0.03%, which led to a warning.

The police have already registered A for violating the Road Traffic Act concerning drunk driving and have sent the case to the prosecution. Currently, the police are intensely investigating whether Council Member Jeong aided A in her drunk driving. A key focus of the investigation is whether Jeong coerced A into driving while intoxicated in his place.
A spokesperson for the Seongseo Police Station stated, "We are carefully confirming whether Council Member Jeong forced A to drive while drunk, and if charges are substantiated, we plan to register him as well."
