Model Kim Jong-seok passed away on the 4th at the age of 29. The deceased's family has urged the public to refrain from spreading false news related to the cause of death.
Kim Jong-seok's older sister, A, stated on social media on the 6th, "We are currently overwhelmed with the funeral arrangements," adding, "Inaccurate information has been circulating in the community, causing distress to the bereaved family."
They announced plans for legal action, stating they would report certain malicious posts to the police. "We can no longer watch the ridiculous rumors spreading," they warned.
They plan to clarify the cause of death, saying, "We have also requested the deletion of articles that are not based on facts," and mentioned that they would organize and publicly share police transcripts and recordings from friends who were present at the time.
According to the Hanam Police Station, a man in his 20s, referred to as B, died by suicide on the 4th after being separated from his girlfriend due to a disturbance. Internet users speculated that B was Kim Jong-seok.
Kim Jong-seok's obituary was previously announced by a friend, C, who posted a tribute on social media on the 5th, saying, "I heard the news yesterday that you left us. My heart is shattered."
On the same day, Kim Jong-seok's social media was switched to private. Tributes from friends and internet users continue to pour in the comments of his YouTube posts.
Kim Jong-seok debuted as a shopping mall model in 2014 and gained recognition as a model for the men's beauty brand 'DASHU.' He is also reported to have recently ventured into acting.
Meanwhile, Kim Jong-seok's funeral parlor has been set up at Hanam Maru Park, with the burial completed on the morning of the 6th. The burial site is at Chuncheon Anshikwon Yanggu Memorial Park.
