Found Dead Inside Vehicle Near Gyeyoksan
Lee Yong-gi, a Daejeon city council member affiliated with the People Power Party (representing the 3rd electoral district of Daedeok), was found dead inside a vehicle. He was 58 years old.
According to the Daejeon Daedeok Police Station on the 18th, a report was received around 4:26 PM that Lee was found dead inside a vehicle parked in an open space near the Gyeyoksan hiking trail in Birae-dong, Daedeok District.
Police who arrived at the scene discovered Lee inside the vehicle in an unconscious state, but he was reported to have already been deceased.
Sent Despondent Message to Family
Investigations by the police revealed that just before his discovery, Lee sent a message to his family expressing feelings of despair regarding his life.
Based on these circumstances and the condition at the scene, the police believe Lee may have made an extreme choice and are currently investigating the exact cause of death.
A police official stated, "As of now, no signs of criminal activity have been found. While the likelihood of homicide is low, the exact cause of death will be confirmed through an autopsy."
