Korean Liberty Party Announces Large-Scale Customized Promises for Honam and Jeju Regions

The Korean Liberty Party announced a large-scale set of promises targeting the Honam and Jeju regions on the 17th.

These promises focus on key elements such as including the spirit of the May 18 Democratic Movement in the preamble of the Constitution and expanding medical welfare for the families of victims of the Jeju 4·3 Incident.

On the 17th, the party's policy headquarters stated in a press release, "We will establish the constitutional status of the May 18 Movement and realize the complete resolution of the Jeju 4·3 Incident, as well as the values of coexistence and peace."

They added, "We will create Honam, which reflects the aspirations of the local residents, transforming it into a digital and cultural hub beyond just a sacred place of democracy."

First, there is a plan to develop Gwangju as an "AI ecosystem standard city." The Korean Liberty Party aims to continuously push forward with the national AI data center phase 2 project and formulate plans to establish artificial intelligence conversion (AX) demonstration valleys and research and development (R&D) hubs, proposing to elevate Gwangju to a digital and cultural hub city.

Gwangju has been promoting the AI-centered city project since 2019 and is currently developing an AI cluster in the Advanced Science and Technology District.

Strengthening Transport Networks for Inter-Regional Connectivity

The Korean Liberty Party has made transport network expansion a key issue. They stated plans for the early construction of the "Moonlight Railway" linking Gwangju and Daegu to create an industrial belt connecting Honam and Yeongnam, as well as to establish high-speed rail networks along the Yeosu-Iksan and Gwangju-Mokpo lines.

Additional plans include the construction of a highway connecting Gwangju-Yeongam and Goheung, the expansion of the Gwangju Donggwangju IC to Gwangsan IC section to 6-8 lanes, the early construction of Heuksan Airport, and the advancement of the second airport on Jeju Island.

Through these promises, the Korean Liberty Party expressed its commitment to heal historical wounds such as the May 18 Democratic Movement and the Jeju 4·3 Incident, while supporting economic leaps in the Honam and Jeju regions.

A party official emphasized, "The Honam region, a sacred place of democracy, can now become the center of digital and future industries with the help of the Korean Liberty Party," pledging to create tangible results for balanced regional development.
